What I Did Today #1 – March 20, 2026

MARCH 20, 2026

Since this website is brand new and I don’t have anything written to show anyone, I figured that now would be a good time to roll out my first-ever feature: What I Did Today. The premise of What I Did Today is to document all of the things I did on a given day, with some light commentary added to make it interesting for the reader who did fewer things than I and wishes to bask in the glory of productivity.

5:30 AM: I woke up from a nightmare which was so unpleasant I won’t go into it here. What a first post, eh? Immediately withholding key details. Good stuff. I drank a Blue Raspberry Ghost energy drink with my breakfast of two kiwis. I know I should stop drinking energy drinks now that I’m in my 30s, but the healthiness of the kiwis probably counteracts it somehow. I’m not a doctor, but I do always assume that I am correct about everything.

5:45 AM: Started getting ready for work. I am a part-owner of a used video games store in Fitchburg, WI. It’s called Quicksave Games. If you’re reading this and like video games, you should check it out. People have said it’s pretty good. Do I need to go into work this early? Not really, but I’m much more productive when we don’t have customers in the store, and putting in the work early in the day allows me to leave a bit earlier and I need to get a haircut. More on that later, as I am writing this mostly in real time and want to keep the reader (as well as myself) in suspense about the outcome.

7:00 AM: The most useful thing about me is my ability to effectively get my wife out of bed about 75% of the time. Part of my “getting ready for work” routine is to ensure that she has enough time to get ready for work herself so that she gets her day off on the right foot. I should also note that it doesn’t take me well over an hour to “get ready” and I spent a chunk of the last seventy-five minutes playing Pokemon LeafGreen on my Analogue Pocket. I’ll probably post a review or something like that on this site in the coming days once I’ve finished my replay.

7:40 AM – 1:40 PM: WORK. Despite only being in the store for about an hour after we opened and didn’t speak with many customers, it was a weirdly stressful day. I blame other people.

I spend a lot of time stressing about work. As the owner of a business, that’s probably not too unusual, but I wish I didn’t. I’m not sure what can really be done about it aside from running away to another country and renouncing my American citizenship, and even then I’d probably still wonder how they were doing without me.

I didn’t get a haircut today after all. My stylist wasn’t scheduled and I don’t trust the other SportsClips people. Should I trust them? I don’t know, it’s not as though Cat (that’s her name) is the only real hairstylist there and the other employees are all imposters helping to front a money laundering operation. Right?

I think that’s enough for now. Once my work day is over I usually change into my pajamas and watch wrestling or play video games, but since I’m still fairly close to the start of Pokemon LeafGreen I won’t be able to commit to posting my thoughts about it for a while. I also don’t really feel like watching wrestling at the moment, though I’ll probably cave in and watch Friday Night Smackdown anyway. That’s almost four hours away from when I’m writing this, so I have plenty of time to get warmed up and not think about work. Not think about work. About work. Work.

I wonder how work is going? Maybe I’ll call the shop and check in.
